MEET THE PRACTITIONER: VINODHA JOLY, LMFT
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #81248) with a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University (2010).
My work is informed by Eastern wisdom traditions (such as mindfulness), as well as my training and experience in contemporary psychodynamic, attachment and emotion-focused modalities. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, which is an integrative therapy that helps one access, reprocess and integrate unresolved or traumatic memories and events from the past.
Having grown up in several countries across different continents, I am multi-culturally competent and well aware of the issues of identity and other challenges faced by immigrants in a new country, as well as the unique experiences of people from different ethnic and cultural groups.
Before starting my current private practice in Pleasanton, I worked at hospitals and non-profit agencies providing individual, couples, family, and group therapy to address the issues faced by survivors of domestic violence, high conflict divorced parents, and older adults with depression and anxiety (2009 to 2013).
I also hold a Masters degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan (1997) and worked as a researcher and software engineer in the Silicon Valley high-tech industry for over a decade, before discovering my passion in psychology and transitioning to a vocation as a psychotherapist.
I am committed to improving my skills, knowledge and expertise through continued education, consultation and clinical training, as well as my own personal psychotherapy, to ensure that you receive safe and effective treatment with the highest standard of care. Seeing the effectiveness and positive impact that my work has in the lives of others fills me with gratitude, and I am so honored to be a witness to the transformational changes in your life.
